I tried the diy rebuild and found cracks in the housing that the impeller had nicked. As crisx stated, these cracks are very common. If you decide to rebuild yourself or at least check the internals prior to making the rebuild/rebuilt decision, you should invest in a snap-on 13mm open end "flank wrench" or equivalent from a professional tool truck. You will find one nut that you cannot get to with a boxend wrench. Craftsmen and other storebrand open end wrenches will spread and round the nut. Penetrant and heat did not free this nut for me. Snap-on flank wrench was the charm but very pricey.
I would also just buy a new oil feed tube from sobstory 800-583-0370, rather than risking any of the abrasive coked oil destroying the new turbo. One more tip: tie the big radiator hose up to the intake runners so that you can more easlily get your arm under the hose to access the banjo bolt holding the oil tube to the head. good luck, but I doubt you will have any problems.
