90 SPG Questions - Slight Burning Smell Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Sat, 15 Nov 2003 13:23:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife claims she's smelled a slight burning smell from the SPG and I can't really find it. Car is at 126k.
Here's what I see:
Oil is dirty, but still at MAX line after 3500mi
Coolant level and color is good in the tank.
Brake fluid is OK, too.
PS fluid was a little low, I topped it off.
A little smoke came from around turbo or elbow by the downpipe.
Oil and/or steering fluid on the passenger side motor mount area.
The usual slight oil leak from distributor area
Clutch still seems healthy.
Alternator is shaking around. Bushing time?
Here's one I don't get... I see some white deposits around the exhaust manifold, elbow area, and downpipe area. Like when saltwater dries and leaves a line of salt. Any clue there?
I think I'm leaking a little PS fluid and should tighten the hose clamps.
I *hope* my distributor drip is getting onto the hot parts and burning off, causing a little smoky smell.
I'm going to see if I smell it on my hiking trip to Mt. Tam today. :)
Any ideas?
Randy
