Hmm. I just did this job on Wednesday (see my post below), but I didn't clean the engine off and I don't notice any more burning odor. Unless you're seriously OCD, I would just leave it be. IMHO, the risks of cleaning the engine with the spray degreaser far outweigh the advantages. I remember when I was 16, I owned an old Chevy van that a 350 in it. I used that spray degreaser to clean the engine and noticed increased oil leaking. Now perhaps that's because the oil leaks were there to begin with, and cleaning the engine just brought them to my attention. But I bet it happened because all the old oil buildup crud acted as an external gasket.
Either way, if you decide to clean the engine use extreme care to not get the distributor, spark plug wires, or any other electrical component wet. It can quicly turn into a nightmare.
