OT: 84 Mazda 4Cyl Pickup "Dielseling" on shutdown Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] (#22) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Randy Thatcher) on Sun, 16 Nov 2003 02:46:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A friend asked me what might cause this, and it stumped me. My mom's old car did this in the 80's, too.
Basically, when you shut the car down it tries to keep going a little. He calls it "dieseling". Kindof a knocking before shutdown. He also claims it smells like fuel in the cabin of the truck.
What causes this phenomenon and how do you fix it?
I think his mechanic tweaked the idle before smog check. Any relation?
Randy
