I am recovering the rubber/foam mats that go underneath the carpets. After 14 years of use the rubber is starting to disentigrate especially on the drivers mat.

I bought some matting that is for use under hardwood flooring that will work very well for a top layer on the mats but my first attempt to affix the matting has failed. I used "Gorilla Glue" which seemed like a good choice at the time but it is not going to work.

I'm not taking the rubber off of the original matting, just putting the new stuff over the top of it.

Any ideas on a strong and flexible adhesive for use here?
