It is possible to mount an extra standard DIN slot in the top portion of the large bottom storage bin. Use a VW type one, and shave the lower tips slightly to match the tapering bin. It will slide in tightly, and look factory. However, You can't add the Ford Coin/cup unit due to width. But, if you remove the Cup slider from it, It can be mounted to the under side of the added DIN in its outward state, giving the best functional position of all. The stop tabs on top of the slider will rest at the lower lip of the added DIN, and you grind off the rear top of the slider to give the added extra angle. If it sounds hard, it's not. I've done this three times now, if you have a bench grinder, it is a snap. When done, the lower cup position will allow you to shift with Zero interference with shifting, and you may have a coffe, AND use your ashtray at the same time. Another major benefit is the lower a beverage is, the less it will spill. As far as not being able to retract it, it really is no big deal. Any car I have, they are always out any way.Try this...remove the cup slider and simply position it where I'm describing, and you'll understand. If Saab didn't taper the console at the bottom, This is where Everybody would have put it.
