I wouldn't call it fearless... I know i'm always only one repair away from being humbled :)
Actually, i'm a little afraid of the bleeding process and that's what i'm trying to avoid. I saw thesaabsite.com sells a replacement yoke, but at $35 maybe better just replacing the whole thing! (but i think entire replacement would require bleeding of the system, no?) Since the yoke is sold separately i imagine that it could be replaced on its own, but if i do so would it require bleeding? How does the yoke attach to the metal rod coming out of the body of the master cylinder?
Another idea i had was getting 1/8" thick iron or steel (whichever is stronger) rectangle pieces that are the same dimensions as the 'arms' of the yoke. I would drill a 5/16" hole in each and then attach them to the outside of the yoke with JB Weld. If i'm explaining this sufficiently it would in a sense be building up the sides of the yoke and have a brand new hole (which could be drilled before installation which should be easy!!)
If the above is feasible and not doomed to fail, the only problem i see is that building up the sides of the yoke could make the width too wide for the length of the current pin... but i'd imagine getting a new, longer, pin should be easy enough.
Am i trying to 'rig' things a bit too much or does the above seem to make logical sense?
Thoughts/Comments appreciated.
As always, thanks.
