1987-1989 900 brake master cylinders are the same, even though the 1987 car has the older garbage front calipers. You do not need to change your '86 master cylinder/booster to convert to the newer brakes.
Also, if you are going to use your 1986 front axles with 1992 front knuckles, you will need 1990-93 (ABS) outer CV joints, as your '86 joints will not fit into the '92 ABS knuckles. It would likely be easier/cheaper to get used 1988-89 knuckles, which your '86 joints will work with unmodified.
I have converted a 1986 900 to 1988-98 9000-spec brakes and I am very happy with them. By the way, I just weighed a 1986 900 front caliper and a 1992 9000 front caliper. The 9000 caliper actually weighed 3 pounds LESS than the '86 junk. HA!
