Factory whale Tail Epoxy

Had my car painted and some body work done,and bought a factory whale tail from some one that needed some work . Well the guys that painted did the best they could I guess to try to get the rubber back onto the tail, but theres still a 1/2" gap in places and it doesnt fit right. Has any one disgaurded the factory bolts that hold the rubber to the tail and used an epoxy to glue them together. My car looks good, but thats the sore spot.....
