My mechanic has two cars with auto trannys,he changes the fluid every time he changes engine oil and both cars have well over 200 K on them and no problems.I have been driving Saab for over 40 years,always manual transmission,since my personal feeling is that you loose too much power and control with an auto.An auto is for disabled people or people that are not willing or able to drive a standard shift car.I am confident if i had a Saab with an auto i could keep it running for a long time if i was the original owner,too many people dont know how to drive or service a car.
