You might as well find another inexpensive old 900 to buy instead of attempting this endeavour. Not only is the master cylinder different, but the calipers are too. I also seem to recall that on ABS, each wheel has it's own brake fluid circuit. Whereas, the old style has dual diagonal braking (only 2 lines); meaning you'd have to replace the brake lines. Major effort, headache, and risk.
When it comes to something as important as brakes, I personally, wouldn't have the balls to try interchanging different components.
I would strongly suggest fixing the car with the parts it was designed to have.
Just my $0.02 though...
