The ECU will shut off if voltage drops to about 10 volts. When a battery has been severly discharged, they often develop internal shorts that bleed alternator voltage so that the ECU shuts down.
I once had a battery that even appeared to take a charge overnight and I refused to believe that it was bad. I finally bought one of those load testers. The needle dropped like a rock. The battery would short erratically when you tried to run the car.
Hope that you didn't damage the ECU and the main and fuel pump relays when you jumped the car. EZ to do if you don't load up the electical system with lights, fans, rear defrost, prior to jumper disconnect.
