I purchased the car with 159,000 miles on it approximately 4 1/2 years ago. It drives fine, but needs some work. It's now a 4-speed (1,2,4,5) because of a chipped 3rd gear, but still gets ~28mpg in mixed city/highway driving.
The front wheel wells need some rust removal (bubbling paint), and all of the rear suspension bushings need to be renewed, along with the lower control arm bushings up front.
Off the top of my head, I've replaced: the hood, doors, hatch window, dashboard, headliner, carpets, upholstery, steering wheel (momo), shift boot (saab-leather), all vacuum tubes (silicon), belts, hoses, ignition wires (magnicor), k&n open-element air filter, silicon sway bar bushings, rubber upper control arm bushings, ball joints, all brake pads, rotors, and calipers, fuel pre-pump, exhaust system (summit racing cat, mss muffler), apc box (group 6), shocks (koni), springs (jamex), power steering pump & rack, tie rod ends, radiator, vacuum reservoir, and gas cap. Probably some other stuff I can't remember.
Oh, yeah- the stereo. The panasonic head unit is one of the only parts left that I bought with the car. I've got Boston Acoustics 4" mids in the dash w/ tweeters just under the knee bolster near the front wheel wells, Boston Acoustics 5 1/4" 2-ways in the rear passenger armrests, 8" a/d/s/ subs in a sealed enclosure behind the rear seat, a 4x25W(rms) a/d/s/ amp, and a 2x30W(rms) rockford fosgate amp for the subs.
I plan to drive it for at least another 60,000 miles.
