should be approx 850-900rpm. Fast idle can be due to intake air leak. Give your AIC a whack with a screwdriver handle and see if that changes the idle. If so your AIC is sticking. Cleaning with carb spray sometimes works, but the motor contacts might have a burned spot, requiring a new AIC.
I'm not sure if your throttle body has the adjusting bolt on it. 85's do but 90'2 don't...87's? Anyway if you have the bolt, it let's you bleed some air past the throttle butterfly to make fine idel adjustments
