I talked to the local Saab dealership and they recommended a machine shop where they send heads. Mine (Turbo, 200k) just needed a valve job :). They basically cleanded, straightened, dismantled and installed new Elring seals for $180. Very reasonable.
Per the dealer, the turbo timing chain is nearly indistructible and decided not to repair. I didn't replace the chain however replaced the tensioner with the Scan Tech "new style." I don't know much about the 8 valve chain.
I used eeuroparts.com OEM parts. The Townsend site provides a great DIY guide to head gaskets as well as really sound advise on things to consider / replace.
Good luck...Mark Z
