Hello, everyone. Several weeks ago on my way home, my 1990 Saab 900 Turbo started to lose power and the battery light came on. I turned off everything electrical that I could, hoping I would be able to make it home. Several miles later, the car died and would not even think about starting again. There was absolutely no charge. A nice man stopped and offered to boost the car off so that I could make it home. We tried four times to boost the car, but every time the booster cables were removed, the car would run a little slow for about a minute and then die. I towed the car to a local facility. I removed the alternator belts and battery that day, and returned the following day. In a moment of hope, I put the alternator belts back on, the battery back in, and the car started right up with no problems. The battery light didn't come on and you wouldn't have known there was a reason to tow the car the previous day. The day before, the battery appeared to be very dead, but it seemed to receive a full-charge over night, although that stretches the imagination a bit. Just to be on the safe side, I took the car down to my local AutoZone and had them test the battery and alternator. The results came back and each of the aforementioned seemed to be in perfect working order. This morning, my battery light came back on. I pulled into a gas station, attempted to tighten the alternator belts, took the battery out, put the battery back in, and the car was dead as can be. The battery appears to be fairly old, so I'm hoping this is the source of my problems. I've never had to deal with many electrical problems on my 900, so this is getting into foreign territory for me. Any feedback or input is greatly appreciated. Also, if any questions arise, please feel free to ask. By the way, the bitter-sweet part is that my 900 rolled over to 261,000 miles yesterday...sigh. Thanks a bunch! Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
