brake booster servo thingy on the firewall. I had one pop off once and it created your problem. Whatever it is, its most definitely just a vacuum leak, now you just have to track it down. If its revving to 5 grand, its gotta be a bigger hose. Also,you might want to check the plastic elbows that are plugged into the intake, check them for cracks too.
