Follow the directions Doug posted, except for these.
The day before you are doing the job, degrease the area and hose it down so it's cleaner and not dripping wet when you do the job. Tall jackstands are very helpful if you don't have a lift.
I have found it easier to unbolt the rack from the frame/body mounts before removing the feed and return lines at the rack and the steering ujoint coupling. Once the rack is loose from the frame, you can move it to get better access to the pipe fittings on the rack and it is also easier to pull the the coupling off of the rack spindle.
However, remove the pinch bolt from the ujoint coupling before unbolting the rack. You do this from inside the cabin. Pull up the boot and peel it back to get to the joint. You can hold the bolthead with a closed end wrench and get a socket over the nut.
I would also flush the pump and feed lines with clean fluid prior to installation of the new rack, i.e. treat it like a rebuilt rack.
