Hello there!

I bought 900 GL -85 as a winter car. It's been quite thirsty (9.4L/100km motorway) so i bought Stromberg carb-adjustment tool and screwed in the needle two thirds of turn. Air-filter is new. My nose says it's running leaner now but I'm not totally sure.

I have few questions:

1. Should i turn carb-tool clockwise or anti-clockwise to lean-out the mixture?
2. How many turns is typically enough?
3. Car needs lot's of choke during cold-start. Is there any way to adjust it so it needs less?

Bonus question:
Could someone explain to me what different adjustment screws are for:
