Cold start problem solved

As per previous posts, I suffered mightily from a strange (to me) cold start problem with 88 900S. New battery, starter, NTC sensor, AMM, fuel pressure reg, cap, rotor, plugs, all to no avail. Break came one day when I'd let the car cool down too far and it refused to start. Was fortunate to have parked outside of indie shop that initially "fixed" the car by guessing that the NTC was bad. The mechanic came to see if he could get it started; on fail, he checked for spark from the coil. Good spark. Pulled car to start and, as usual, ran great. Talking afterwords, he said that he'd noticed something unusual during that spark test: coil would fire immediately upon turning ignition to 'on' (or maybe at start) position, sparked regularly on cranking, but then threw an extra pulse when done cranking.

I don't know enough about inner workings of ign amplifier or coil to make a plausible guess as to what, in particular, was going on. Suffice it to say that I bought a used coil/amp from one of our fine sponsors, installed it, and need only to tap the starter to get ignition regardless of car temp.

So, I spent more $ than nec but learned one hellofa lot in the process. One of the most important thing I learned was the value of this forum. Thanks all for your suggestions and commiseration along the way. I'll try my best to pass those small favors along.
