I would go for the original color since almost ANY repaint can be easily seen. Switching colors would be alright if you were going a total complete body repaint. By this I mean engine bay, floor pans, etc. Basically removing every single thing from the car, including glass & gaskets, and then shooting the entire thing.
I have seen this done before to many many cars and if it is done correctly it is stunning. As any painter will tell you the quality of the paint job is in the PREPWORK.
