I just replaced my front calipers on my '87 900 turbo convertible, as well as my pads and rotors.

All parts from Eeuroparts.com

Calipers $86.90 each plus $45 each core charge
Pads $19.39
Brembo rotors $38.90 each
Plus you need caliper grease which you can get at any auto parts store

Eeuroparts has free shipping. They are a great supplier.

This is definitely a do it yourself job. You need jack stands, a jack, metric wrenches (the caliper bolts are 19mm), a torx screwdriver set and preferably a circlip pliers, although you can pry the circlip off of the emergency brake cable with regular pliers. Getting the old caliper off is the only hard part if your bolts are stuck. Other than that this is easy. If you don't have one, you need a Bentley repair manual.

I am not a professional mechanic by any means but if you have a shop do this it should be in my opinion maybe two hours of labor. For $600 you're getting ripped off unless they're doing much more than front calipers, rotors and pads.
