With only 100k your car should work fine. And the fact is that there is no immunity from the dreaded breakdown. I've worked at several new car dealers and it's not at all unusual to see even new cars arrive behind a tow truck. You could spend a lot of money and still not really garrentee any kind of protection. A better (and cheaper) approach would be to simply prepare. Get a AAA membership, research repair facilities in the area, and get set up to rent a car when you need one. If you wish to take a long trip out of the immediate area rent a brand new car. Compared to what you'd spend to buy a newer car, all of the above suggestions are a bargain. Don't worry, be happy.
