When you turn the key do you hear the starter turning the motor over at a normal speed like before you left the lights on? If not then maybe your battery needs a jump. If you try to jump it and it still will not turn the engine over, you may need a new battery. Thats the test for just turning the engine over, not running.

If the battery is jumped and it holds a charge and turns the engine over at a normal speed and the engine will not start and run on its own, then have someone turn the key to "On" but not as far a "Start", while you listen under the gas tank for a high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" sound; if you have that sound then your fuel pump is working. It will run for several seconds and then stop if the engine is not running. You need a reasonably quiet area to here it, a noisy garage near a busy road may obscure the sound. A replaced fuel pump may run about $600. It could also be a failed fuel pump relay (fuse) which should only run $30 for the part.

In my experience with two saabs and other Bosch equiped cars, I have never needed an ignition module or fuel injection part other than pumps and filters. Others are have more experience with those components and will contribute their thoughts.

If these guys are not SAAB experienced, get the car to a shop that is. Don't let them go to school while you pay their tuition.
