I have an 87 900T SPG that I have installed a new tranny in and also knocked out a major service while I was at it. After checking and rechecking the installation I started doing some operational checks, after about 15-20 mins of operation the car shutoff. I turned it over a bunch of times, but to no avail the car would'nt start. I began troubleshooting the problem using the Bentley manual and found that the fuel pump wasn't operating when I turned the car on and began to crank it. I assumed the pump was bad, but I performed the checks in the manual:

Fuel system checks (Checked all fuses - none blown)
1. Jumped the terminals at the fuse box - pump works as advertised.
2. Jumped the system/fuel relay terminals- pump works as advertised.
3. With air mass and ecu plugs disconnected, checked the specified voltages at sockets 87, 86 & 30 IAW the LH 2.2 fuel schematic, all voltages checked ok.
4. Replaced system/fuel relays just for GP, so I know they're good.

One thing I noticed was that with the jumper in place at the fuse box, not switched on, I can hear the system/fuel relays opening and closing. With the jumper removed they don't open and close, and the voltage at pin 2 of the air mass meter or pin 87b at the system/fuel relay terminals do not have voltage or ground. I have'nt found where they are related to the the fuse box terminals in the schematic.

I checked the ignition system as well and all the voltages, grounds and resistances to the required components check out.

The only two components that I'm not sure of is the Ignition impulse relay or the boost pressure switch. could one of these be the culprit or should I look somewhere else?

Hopefully I've articulated the problem well and the steps taken to correct it.

Thanks in advance for any help I may receive.

James
