I re-covered mine with a synthetic fabric called microsuede. It looks like suede but it is much less expensive and easier to work with. You can pick it up at most fabric stores. Weather you are able to get the right color is a crap-shoot. I was lucky. I padded them with a spun cotton quilt batting. The foam which was originally used deteriorated from the sun. I sprayed the panels with spray-mount glue first, then added the padding, then stapled the fabric over it. YOU MUST GET 1/8 INCH STAPLES! Anything longer will come through the front of the panel and ruin the job. If you can't find them, get 1/4 inch and grind them down before putting them in your staple gun.

Here's a link to a site that sells microsuede. You can email them for samples. http://www.garysupholstery.com/suede.html

The speakers are a whole other story. The metal mesh grill is mounted to the panel with plastic welds. You have to break these welds to remove and replace the fabric. You have a couple of choices when putting them back together. Get really small screws and drive them into what's left of the plastic welds. Or drill out what's left and rivet them back on. I riveted them on but it's tricky because you have to mount the fabric and padding on the area where the speaker grill goes, then peel the fabric back to get the rivet gun in there. You want the flat part of the rivet on the front side of the speaker grill. If you do it the other way you'll have bumps. You can mount the fabric to the plastic panel by wrapping it around the edges and fusing it to the plastic with a soldering iron set at a medium setting. You just want to melt the fabric and the plastic together with little dots. When you take the speaker covers off and flip them over you'll see a peice of fabric over the speaker grill mounted this way, so you can see what I mean. You can't staple it because the plastic is too thin. To take the covers off, just pry them. They are mounted with heavy hook and loop fasteners. It will sound like tearing but don't worry. They are like velcro.
