Just finished pulling the seats out of my 91 900S NA 5-spd 170k. I developed a rattle and failed my IL emmisions (only the HC by .05) about the same time. After finally getting under the car, not only is the intermediate pipe about to fall out on its own, but the heat shield crumbled under light pressure. Call Jim at sobstory.com, order new exhuast from the manifold back, and new shocks/tie rod ends/ball joints which I've been putting off. They should show up monday. I started around 11am, taking it slowly (it is the 4th of july weekend after all) Dropped the old exhaust with no problems. A few swift taps and the intermediate pipe came out, a hacksaw behind the center muffler, and everything pulled out in three easy pieces. Then it started pouring. I've got a small garage, but (since it had been robbed earlier-tools etc) I didn't have a T50 for the seats. A quick walk up the local Ace proved unproductive, they just had sets that went to T40. Ok, hop on my bike, pedal a mile in the rain to Home Despot, same thing, Pep Boys finally had what I needed. I get back, dry off a bit. Take a nap. Well, to wrap this up, I figured I would log on and post while waiting for my pizza. I'm actually looking forward to tackling the ball joints etc tomorow.
