Saw your previous post and no idea what this plastic piece is some refer to. Correct me if am wrong, but have had mine apart several times though it was years ago. The reverse lockout consists of a (metal) toothed gear under the lock cylinder and switch assembly, and this gear articluates with another gear having an swing arm that, when transmission shaft is in reverse position is swung into an interfering position by turning the key. This is what you feel when the shifter is locked, key out.
Having had a nitwit force the car out of reverse and break one of the gears, breaking the ignition switch and rendering car inop, would recommmend against that idea :o) As look at it in my mind, can't see why you couldn't take one of the gears out, though. Anyone else? To get at it, you need to make yourself a 'triangle socket' by notching an 11mm short socket at 3 points w/ a grinder/Dremel. Is self explanatory from there. Anyone see a reason why you couldn't take a gear out? Seems almost too easy, but....
