but first, maybe your technique needs a bit touching up. How do you find 2nd when downshifting? You should move the selector over to the left from the neutral position as the selector naturally goes to the 4th gear when downshifting from 3rd (I mean it wants to go in the 4th gate without any effort). Going to second requires a conscious effort. I'm not saying you don't know how to shift. In fact, I have no idea of your driving skills so don't take this as an insult. Anyway, back to the linkage. For the amateur, it's probably not easy, bit it is simple. It shouldn't cost much at all to have it done. Notice I said shouldn't.
