Good price... but be sure to make a good inspection

I bought a 88 SPG Turbo 16v a couple of months ago and the price was very attractive (actually the guy was asking $2000 and I got it for $1500)
But the fact is that since I have it I spent more than $2,500 in repair (and soon should have a nice $500 bill for changing crankshaft pulley)
Anyways, when you buy such a good car at $1,500 get ready to spend (a lot!) in repairing. It is hard sometimes but it is worth it! Excellent car!
Actually you already know how good are Saab's (this one is my first Saab!)
My conclusion is, if you are like me a novice in mechanics, I strongly recommand you to make a good meticulous inspection.
Has it been stored for a long time?
Was the car parked outside during winters?
Second hand? Do you have a repair log?
...
Maybe these ideas and my experience will help you making a decision.
Take Care!
Buz
PS: Does anybody know where I can find a very good price for a front headlight passenger's side assembly? (scrapyards, websites....) I'm living in Montreal, Canada.
Thank you!
