Time for the first, loosely organized, unofficial, SAAB run to the Glen!
Pack a cooler, grab anyone standing nearby and throw them into your SAAB and come meet us September 18, 9:30 AM off exit 42 (Route 14 South) of the NYS Thruway.
There is a Gas Station/Motel/Restaurant parking lot on the East side of Route 14, just south of the exit where we will meet.
From there, we will head south on Rt 14 to Geneva NY, and then along the West Side of Seneca Lake following Rt 14 down to Watkins Glen. There are many Wineries along the way, and I will have a map of them we can look at to decide on which ones we may want to stop at. Once in the Glen we will venture to the State Park (Link Provided), where we will stop and enjoy a picnic, photos, talk, and other unofficial business. The Park boasts a swimming pool, as well as one of the nicest hiking gorges in all of WNY. Complete with waterfalls, and other breath taking scenery (not to mention a few SAAB's). Once we get our fill here, we will leave the park and head up the East side of Seneca Lake on Rt 414 to Rt 96A, and stop at the Ramada Inn Geneva on Rt 5&20. Here we can part ways with a road heading in each direction, or stop for a drink at the Chart House restaurant in the Ramada.
We are keeping this unofficial, and hope for good weather, and some other enthusiast who would like to spend a Saturday driving around some of the most beautiful areas in NY.
