I've had trouble with Castrol LMA on my 87 master cylinder(s). The stock one went out about a year after I switched to LMA (I bought the car w/133K on it in 1992...don't ask) and the rebuild went 13 months thereafter...I shoulda noticed the brake fluid going black in the master cylinder the first time but noooooooooo. The second time I replaced the master cylinder I flushed with ATE Blue (can always alternate between ATE amber and the blue colors) and have used the ATE blue DOT 4+ fluid on all my cars (well, except the Audi and the BMW which use whatever the dealer puts in them under the maintenance warranty) without any more MC problems. Of course Castrol denied any fluid problems...perhaps it was just a bad batch of seals to the rebuilder.
