I bought the el cheapo because that's all that car should have gotten.

I kept the car about a year after, and sold it to a guy in my neighborhood. I see it every now and then, still looks OK 2.5 years after I got it painted.

The way that I understand it (and it's been 2.5 years), there may be better paint (depending upon color, clear coat, etc.) when you buy the more expensive paint jobs, but I think that when you get into the 5-year warranty you are paying a little more just to get the extra warranty in a lot of cases. At least for my car it was that way, if I recall.

I would shop around. Even Maaco wasn't the low $$ guy in my area, but I got him to match a price that I got from Peach, a regional chain.
