Could be crank sensor or ignition amplifier. Those are the most logical things. The ECU needs to get an RPM signal from the ignition amplifier for injector timing and to let the fuel pump continue running.
Here's a link to the Townsend Impoorts page on No-Start checks for the LH 2.4 fuel injection system. You have an LH 2.4.2, but it's 95% the same for these checks.
