Jesse,
The MA standards are getting quite strict, althought every car is suffering from it. Saw a new BMW with a rejection sticker the other day (probably just a bulb out, but a big red "S" nonetheless). From what I understand (as far as rust), if the inspector can cut himself on if, the car will fail. I had to do a 2 minute, horrible looking bondo job on the driver's side rear wheel well to pass it. Of course, the inspector said nothing of the other rust/rot on the car. I also had to replace the exhaust manifold gasket and turbo to manifold gasket to get a sticker for it (winter car) which I understand.
It may be worth putting a couple of bucks into it to get it a valid sticker so you could at least donate the spg to charity.
just a thought.
With the cost of living in this state and the inspection process, is getting out of control.
