Bled . . . now Dead Clutch couple weeks later. Help! Posted by devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from devin) on Mon, 29 Nov 2004 22:14:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Sorry for the bad rhyme. It's been a long week and it's only Monday! My clutch pedal was dropping in traffic while disengaged, engaging, and causing car to almost stall every once in a while, so I bled it, changed the fluid, and everything was great. No more trouble. I had a nice drive to Philly and then home for Thanksgiving. Everything fine. I dropped the car off to get it smog tested/PA state inspection on Friday and took my dad's truck back to school. My dad picked it up on Saturday and it passed everything with flying colors! I was expecting emissions issues but the OCD -- I mean 02 sensor/plugs etc. paid off on that front. I think I drank too much Friday night because I was worred about my baby going under the knife.
Sunday morning when I got home and started the car --no clutch at all-- and low fluid in the resevoir. 24 hours earlier everything was great when he parked it. I put in some fluid, pumped it up, and managed to get the car in neutral and didn't see any leaks. There's no resistance in the pedal at all, but it springs back up. Can't get it in gear at all. Previous owner replaced slave 20K or so ago . . . but I'm not sure about the Master.
Does the master ever leak fluid externally or is it always internal failure and no leakage? I figured that the master was going and letting air in or something before I bled it -- because the fluid level wasn't low. Now I have no idea because of the sudden fluid loss (and am stuck driving a really ugly old full-size GMC truck).
Thanks,
Devin
