I'm probably the one you are most mad at, but I'm old and that will be my excuse from now until the end of my time. We're always trying to teach kids a thing or two. It's what we do. When you are old, you'll do the same thing. You can say you won't (that's what I said), but you will.
I too was responding to the $5k - $8k thoughts, more than anything else. And I forgot about the custom van era...so chalk it up to having years.
If you want to put $15k into a car with 200k miles, go for it. Just don't expect to ever get it back. The more you do the car, the less it will be worth...not the other way around. If you want to spend $15k on something that will be worth $5000 - $8000 in four years, I recommend a Honda. And don't do anything to it...just drive it.
I got the information on the dream-car underground racer from the website you posted. The stuff I didn't understand was posted by you...it wasn't from me. So from an old guy to a young guy...above anything else...be safe. You probably have a pair of parents that hate your car and want you home safe and sound every night.
