When I say I wired the lights into the headight switch, I use "wired" loosely. Not very mechanically-inclined, I just stuck two wires into the part of the headlight switch that is exposed when you remove the knob, and quickly plugged the knob back in to hold it in place. So I don't know if I bypassed the dimmer part, but it doesn't matter since everything else dims fine.
Funny that I wired more lights into the headlight switch, but that's the one switch on my car that doesn't light up.
