The thermo-time switch (located on the intake manifold) is only used to run the cold start valve during starting and by the vacuum impulse contact which briefly pulses the cold start valve if the engine stumbles during warm up. It has no effect after warm up. It is not a sensor. 8-valves use the K-jetronic system which is purely mechanical. Warm up mixture is controlled by the warm up regulator mounted near the thermostat housing. The controller box is the Lambda emissions add-on which uses the oxygen sensor to fine control the mixture at normal operating temperature.
