I can certainly gloat some. I dont know how much of it would be relavent to the issues. My main concern would be how much trouble I had with installing the chain and timing. But it starts and does run so I dont think im in too much trouble. I dont have the grounds bolted to the eye bracket its self but near it on the head. Im sure you know where im talking about. And yes its 2 seperate bolts. Um. So your thinking ground ey? I dont know if it matters but what I have for the altenator ground is the exact same wire that goes from starter to alt. I had an extra so I bolted it to the alt bracket and the alt post. The normal alt post ground stud was missing so I had to run it to the other post on the opposite side of the alt. (Thus needing a longer wire than the traditional) As you can imagine the wire im using has a much bigger eye than the little alt post so I used a big washer to secure it. (Maybe thats my problem?). Oh jeeze what did I do to the car.
Basically had a block/head and a good tranny from other car. I couldnt crank the block though becuase some how a small washer ended up in cylidar. Unbolted head from block. Yadda Yadda Yadda. New headgasket, tough time getting chain on with all marks alighned. Eventually got it. New gaskets everywhere. Basically I had it down to the 3 main parts. Block/head/tranny and assembled everything from there. I have successfully done this 3-4 times, sometimes doing new chains and stuff. I am mechanically inclined on the saabers, but I do lack some skills and understandings. Not to good with a voltmeter, etc... but do have my father who is very good. Umm. I think the Voltage Regualtor is getting low, I threw it in the alt anyway. I didnt change o2, or AMM, AIC. Knock sensor was always on the block the way I got it. sorry for rambling. Just trying to figure out what might be of help. I might have swapped the APC solenoid to put in another saab and am using one that I though was potenially bad. But that wouldnt give me my starting/check engine light issues? Thanks for the intrest.
