While it's possible that you damaged the CVjoint, I wouldn't look there first because it isn't loaded with any weight. Wheel bearing, "bears" weight, but it's well supported so I'd put it just ahead of CVjoint in likelyhood of damage.

The first things i would suspect are the tire, the wheel, the hub, or a combination. I would get both front wheels in the air so you can run the spin the wheels with the car in gear and engine running. Be sure to chock rear wheels and get jackstands well mounted under frame.

I use and extra jackstand with a pencil taped to it and almost touching the spinning object. Works as a kluge dial indicator to visually check for run out, first with the wheel on and then at the hub with the wheel off. If the hub is out, put the wheel on the driver's side to verify whether the wheel is out, too.

When you have the wheel off you can touch a stethoscope(screwdriver to ear) to the spindle while the hub is spinning to listen for any roughness at the bearing. Bearing is OK if you hear a smooth steady sound.

While you're there, I would jack up the lower control arm to insert spacers between the upper control arm and the body to unload the balljoints. Pry and squeeze balljoints to detect any movement. prolly OK. Also grab the axle to detect any CVjoint slop, again prolly OK.

If wheel and hub check out OK, I would suspect a bad tire belt, which is getting worse. Not really safe to drive at highway speeds, IMO.
