re-build them yourself Posted by DougM [Email] (#211) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DougM) on Sat, 8 Jan 2005 16:11:00 In Reply to: Calipher Replacement, Matt, Sat, 8 Jan 2005 14:21:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had one a month ago that was locking up and leaking fluid past the outer piston seal. The indirect piston was seized and wouldn't budge, even with repeated blows with a hammer. Since the indirect was not moving, the primary piston was able to extend further than what it should have, hence the leak. I had a re-build kit in the tool box, bought from thesaabsite.com sometime last year for around $20(and does both calipers). Two hours from jack up to jack down to remove it, tear it apart, wire wheel all the crud off, replace seals, re-install, and bleed....and the two hours included spending 20 minutes to open the seized bleeder.
