The best you can do is to remove the rubber couplings and carefully inspect them. Additionally, ensure that your vacuum lines aren't hard and cracking at the nipples to which they attach. And speaking of the nipples, it's a good idea to replace the rubber grommets that hold them in place, as they can be a source of lost boost.
I have disassembled two c900 intercoolers with plastic endtanks. These things are built tough and are well-gasketed where the plastic meets the core. As long as your IC hasn't been dropped when out of the car or smacked in an accident, I wouldn't worry about it leaking. It doesn't hurt to periodically clean the oil out of the core, BTW.
Last, the proof is in the pudding: if your boost needle hits the edge of orange/red (except in low gears), then you've got as much stock boost as your supposed to.
