Thanks John. I checked all of the ignition stuff. Rotor is 1000 ohm, coil primary is only 6500 ohm (7-8k spec per Bentley) but I checked a spare unused coil and the coil on my fine running '87 and both were also 6500 ohm. I think it might be a loose connection inside the AMM (or maybe elsewhere) because I'm more likely to stall when the car's bouncing around. Also, the problem got less frequent after I put in new engine mounts. I've spent a lot of time jiggling wires around while the motor's running in the garage but I haven't been able to find any bad wires. I cleaned all of the ground points too, replaced the boiling over (and too big) battery and heat shield.

So I just finished ordering a rebuilt AMM, heat shield between the turbo and distributor, and another new distributor cap. I'll put the AMM in first, drive it around a bit, and let you guys know if that was it...
