No easy solution -- there is rubber-backed, open-cell sound-deadening foam beneath the carpet. This foam sucks up moisture, literally, like a sponge, but the rubber backing keeps air from getting at it. I'm afraid that, in the winter, the only way to truly dry it is to remove the seats, peel back the carpet and remove the foam.
Not sure what you mean by "body drains." Leaks can be tricky to track down -- rear window leaks can put water up front, for example. If it were me, I'd make absolutely certain that the car is watertight before I try drying...
