Sounds like the bendix-device doesn't work...
That means, the starter is running but has no contact with the flywheel.
Mine has been doing this for about a year now, mostly on wet or very cold days. You can try to spray some contact cleaner on the proper spots, if it happens to be a contact failure. Or you can replace the bendix-device.
