Okay, I'm going to try and condense this post as much as possible, so bear with me. First off, I changed the tach in my car yesterday. The project went well, but now I have no instrument cluster lights, although I checked the bulbs and they're both fine. The only resoning I can figure for this is that I forget which two prongs the blue connector (that goes into the speedometer) connects to. If this connector isn't even for the lights, than I'm really stumped. Either way, does anyone know this connector's purpose/place? Also the clock doesn't work, but I'm assuming it's because the tach came out of an old rusty 79 900. (unless of course the blue connector is for the clock??)
Next, in unrelated problems, my car now HATES to start or run cold. Over the past week it's been getting worse, where I'll start the car, and it'll either crank for a long time before starting and running on three cylinders, or it start up but have that annoying fluctuating idle. After it warms up a little bit, it -usually- runs just about perfectly, although sometimes the misfire persists. Things I've checked are the AMM (can be adjusted to 380 ohms, although the car doesn't like that setting too much), and the AIC valve which, as per the Bentley test, is working flawlessly. I can't think of many other things, but today after work I was going to try the coolant temp sensor in the manifold. Any other suggestions?
The third and final (for now) problem is what I assume is a sticking ignition switch. Sometimes the car will not even want to crank unless I jiggle the key while in the 'run' position, and today, the starter stuck on (spinning free, not spinning the engine) for a good minute. This I'll diagnose later, but it sounds like a sticky switch, no? Thanks, and I know someone has to have a suggestion to one of my problems, so I look forward to that.
