Your 89 SPG has the same brakes as every other 900 made from 88 to the last 93. If you drive your car *really* hard, that is, at track events, you might benefit from using 9000 rotors, which are thicker. You may need to grind down the pads if they're brand new, and you'll need to shim the brake mounting bolts to keep them from contacting the rotors.
