Todd,
At least you have the opertunity to sell it to a friend and not a total stranger!
I bought my first car (1990 BMW 525i 5spd) from a guy that truely loved it and didn't want to let it go. For whatever reason, he was selling it though. A few months later I sent him a christmas card with a picture of the BMW happily in a winter wonderland and I think he liked that a lot.
You on the other hand should be able to keep up with the wherabouts of the car through your friend. See it again after the sale, potentially.
Maybe later on when you're established and have some space, you're friend will be ready to sell and you can rekindle your love.
You are getting a good price for your car though, that helps at least.
I doubt I could sell my 91 900S for much more than 1000 dollars. At this point it isn't really worth the money it would yeild to sell it. Because of this and because of its much greater value to me, I rest easy knowing I'll probably always have it. I anticipate having a Classic 900 or two for quite a while.
heh, I already have two and I'm a full time college student living on campus. I'm sure I'll manage even better in my graduate life of SAAB'n.
Austin
