I agree that you can't use too much common sense trying to decide if the AMM is going bad. Just have to swap a known good one in there to see. When my AMM was failing, once I got past the first 5- 10 minutes (depending on how cold the weather was) the car would run pretty well. To get past the warm up stage required many restarts and mightily nursing the gas, but after that no problem driving it. Once car warmed up some minor flat spots under acceleration at times but not always. I kept trying to convince myself that it couldn't be the AMM or the car wouldn't run at all. Well it was the AMM. I guess if the AMM wire is still intact and the burn off is functioning the AMM may still be at a point in life where it's just enough out of calibration so the injection system feedback loop can't lock in. Warm up the car and now the feedback loop can suddenly lock in better, due to the warmer under hood temp and the O2 sensor kicking in as well. My two cents.
